Sounds crazy? Maybe! Maybe not!
We all make mistakes, it a part of life, no matter how much we prepare or educate ourselves, it’s still going to happen. The worst thing you can do is make a mistake and not learn from it. Turn a negative into a positive, if you make a mistake, so what, figure out how to grow and learn from it.
I’ve made my fair share of mistakes and guess what, I keep making new mistakes. One thing I do feel strongly about is never make the same mistake twice.
Also take a look at the word mistake, what does it actually mean? It means that we had an undesired result of an action, ironically enough, sometimes mistakes can actually help us as well. No one is perfect, if you haven’t made any mistakes, chances are you aren’t trying enough or stepping outside of your comfort zone enough.
It’s also interesting to see how people react to mistakes – Do you openly admit it when you make a mistake? Do you try to cover it up? Do you panic? How you react to mistakes will tell a fair bit about an individual.
So.. how do we use mistakes to our advantage. Once we make a mistake, we need to first admit that we made a mistake. Once we can admit it, we should look at why we made the mistake – did we make the mistake due to rushing? Did we make the mistake due to lack of knowledge? Did we make the mistake as we had no other option? etc? How can we use this information to make better decisions going forward?
If we had the make the same decision again, knowing the mistake we made the first time – how would that impact our decision the second time? If we make a mistake, how will it effect our next decision?
