Why we Should Think like a Child

Can you think back and remember what it was like to be a kid?

You were coming into this world with no pre-conceived notion, and your mind was a sponge.

Slowly as we get older, we typically are less and less like this. We enter almost everything with pre-conceived notions, we tend to accept things for how they are opposed to questioning them.

Do you remember ever asking someone a question and they answered “just because”? That’s a sign that they just accept it and don’t even question or try to understand it.

The more we can get back to the child like mindset, the better off we will be.

What could it hurt to question things and try to understand them more? Why just accept things for being the way they are “just because”? Maybe if we understand why things are a certain way, we could change them if we wanted.

Unfortunately by a certain age, most of us are told we “need” to goto college to be successful and that we need to find a steady 9-5 job to be successful. I am by no means opposed to either of them, to me any education is good, we should always be learning! Working a 9-5 job is good as well, it should bring in an income at least so that we have money.

But maybe, just maybe, there might be more to it.

What about the people who don’t fit this mould? What about the people who go out and start their own business? Are they not successful? To some, they aren’t. If you were to ask most adults about opening their own business, most would tell you it’s ridiculous as 90%+ of them fail. While that is true, what about the ones who actually succeed?

I think for us to truly succeed in whatever we do, we should try to keep an open mind like a child. Question what we don’t know, look for a better way to do things, don’t accept “just because”.

The more we do this, the more likely we are to step outside what most people are doing and while it doesn’t guarantee success, it will bring us closer.
